Go Vegan For a Day to Maintain your Yoga Body for the Holidays

The holidays are here, again. This means several months of eating chocolate, a Thanksgiving feast, and holiday parties. How will you stay in shape?

Fibre Poet has the answer, start your fitness routine now. It’s easy as I,2,3.

  1. Get some exercise
  2. Eat a vegan meal once a week
  3. Think positive thoughts

Do you already have a workout routine? My favorite is hot yoga or ballet barre. However, when time is short, my workout is the first thing to get cut from my schedule. Here’s another idea- walk to work, shopping or other errands whenever you can. Parking a few blocks away and walking to your destination or biking is a great way to get exercise in when you’re on the go.

Eat a vegan diet once a week. On days I work out I usually opt for a vegan diet. Eating only plants and grains for a day makes digestion easier and gives your body a lighter feeling during workouts. Here are some suggestions. Try one or all of them:

Breakfast: your favorite energy bar, coffee or tea

Lunch: hummus wrap

Before workout snack: fruit smoothie

After workout snack: apple slices with almond or peanut butter

Extra tip: Stay hydrated! Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day and carry a water bottle.

Most important, stay positive! Don’t let stress creep up on you, it can actually upset your metabolism, resulting in extra weight gain,

    • Plan your busy week ahead of time so you don’t get bogged down with too many commitments.
    • Prioritize and cut out unnecessary tasks or reschedule them.
    • Practice Raja Yoga- the yoga of the mind… Take a deep breath, smile inwardly, and as you breathe out radiate your positivity to the world. You will feel better, and you will be healthier.
